Artistic Path: My artistic path consists in the exploration and elaboration of new techniques of expression. Therefore I have created four techniques: 3-D, Oil on Plywood, GraffTag and Freestyle.
3-D: In this technique I use recycles PVC molds used in the garment industry and dept. stores to sell bathing suits and lingerie. I paste them onto canvases and work with paste and oil to create paintings where I explore the different aspects of my feminity.
In my Oil on Plywood technique, the composition originates directly from my perception of the grain of the wood and the paint is applied with a watercolor transparency letting the wood itself lend its past life to the forms and colors.
With the Grafftag, I express myself along with the early expression of aspiring artists. I pick up "exercise study" paintings in church sales or garage sales and I compose graphic art on top to express my feeling about the work on Canvas. I hope that one day someone will show up at one of my exhibit and exclaim: " Hey! This is my painting (or someone I know...) here behind!" I love these coincidences that show us we are all connected and it is a small world indeed.
As for the Freestyle, I used it to practice spontaneity, hand control and fluidity and to stimulate creativity... It gives works that are very Pop Art, accessible to large audiences and very colorful. I give workshops and realize murals with various groups in this technique that opens up a lot of bottled up artistic aptitudes.
Other aspect of my path include large artistic projects with children in primary schools. I share Gabriel Garcia Marquez 's belief that too many great vocations are lost to too practical parents, therefore the arts are not growing as they should as everyone is told that if you chose a career in the art field, you are going to be poor all your life. I try to make sure when I give a workshop that Iit has been proven in my own life that if there is Love, there is Growth. Therefore should Love come into one's life under the form of visual art.... One should follow the path and not worry about material concerns... Art classes have been cut in primary school and replaced with art project budgets, so I do some of my work there. It is always a reward when a kid tells me he is going to be an artist like me when he grows up and I always answer
" You already are an artist! Just don't ever forget it!"
